Rules

To be a "record," an event or accomplishment must be comparable and measurable so that others can challenge it. Until a challenger can prove he or she has beat or improved on a record in this book, the old record will stand.

Interesting accomplishments or events that seem out of the ordinary do not qualify as a "record" by themselves. If the accomplishment is not comparable or measurable, such as the first couple wed in the rebuilt Nauvoo Temple or the first Mormon in space, then such events fall into the category of being an amazing "first," "fact," or "feat."

The ground rules for Mormon world records are:

1. The performer must be, or was, a member of the LDS Church (level of activity is not asked for). Any item brought forward must have a clear connection to the LDS Church, its members, or the LDS culture or history.

2. Marathon events are allowed 5-minute rest periods after each 60 minutes interval. A signed log book must be provided to prove constant observation during the course of the activity.

3. If some official organization sponsors the event, that organization should be involved in validating and ratifying the record.

4. Submission of a record-breaking attempt must be corroborated by independent sources (newspapers, adult witnesses, coverage by the media, official representatives of organizations).

5. The sole responsibility of the editors is to correct and update information in a subsequent edition.

6. For endeavors where variables are present that might make difficult the duplication of a record attempt, please contact us for help with laying down ground rules.

7. Do not participate in an activity that is or could be injurious to yourself, others, property, or living things. Activities deemed by the judges to be reckless, illegal or contrary to LDS Church standards will not be considered for publication.

8. Submissions that fall into the categories of amazing firsts, facts or feats require some level of corroboration or proof of claims. Contact us for more information.
